Absences –(children)
Children are required to bring a note explaining any absences. These notes, which in the case of children in Years 3-7 may be in the child’s diary or in R-2 Communication Books, are to be dated and signed by the teacher. Accurate maintenance of the Roll Book is a legal requirement.

Telephone messages about student absences are recorded at the front office and a duplicate copy of the message is placed in the teacher’s pigeon hole. The school office is open from 8.30am – 5.00pm and an answering machine is available at times.

Assembly
School assemblies are usually held every second Friday from 9.00 to 9.30 am on odd weeks of the school term. Classes and specialist programs coordinate assemblies each term. The Student Representative Council plays a major role in coordinating and officiating at school assemblies.

Special assemblies are sometimes held at the end of term or on open days. Parents will be advised about these assemblies via the school newsletter.

Canteen
The school canteen is open lunchtimes on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and is staffed and coordinated by parent volunteers. The school canteen provides students with the opportunity to purchase snack food, drinks and ice creams. Lunches are not prepared at the school canteen,.

Lunches can be ordered daily through the school from a local deli Monday to Friday. A canteen menu/price list is provided in the school information pack. The Price changes are advised in the school newsletter. Up-dated lists are sent home when there are a significant number of price changes. Lunch orders are collected in the classroom first thing each morning and taken in the appropriate basket to the back porch of main building where they are collected by a staff member from the local deli. Lunches are delivered to the school from the local deli before eating time and classroom monitors collect them for distribution in the classroom.

Teachers on duty in the asphalt area have a duty of care responsibility for the behaviour management of children purchasing items at the Canteen.

Collection of monies
All monies coming into the school can be left with the class teacher or left in the office with the school Administration/Finance Officer or receptionist. Children are encouraged to bring all money in envelopes clearly stating name, room number, amount and purpose for payment.

Collecting Children Early
Parents collecting children early must report to the Front Office upon arrival and complete an early collection form

Excursions
Teachers organise school excursions to complement their current learning program. Information is always sent home to parents/careers to explain the purpose and cost associated with any planned excursion. Cost is always a consideration when planning excursions and every effort is made to make sure parents/careers are given enough warning so that they can budget for any payments that may be requested. A maximum of $20 per student term is set for school excursions. This amount excludes costs associated with school camps, swimming and excursions.

No child is taken outside of the school grounds during school hours without the written consent of a parent or guardian.

Hot Weather Policy
In cases of extreme heat (36 degrees or above) children stay indoors during play periods. All students must wear a sun safe hat during Terms 1 and 4 whenever they are outside. (A ‘No Hat No Play’ Policy applies). Students are encouraged to wear sunscreen. Sunscreen is available in classrooms for students to apply before they go out to play at lunchtime

Children are not permitted to leave the school grounds during the school day unless collected by a parent/caregiver or an adult member of the extended family. Parents collecting children early must report to the Front Office upon arrival and complete an early collection form.

Orders can also be left at the front office if the shop opening times are not suitable.
